I found out the easy steps for solving Maximum or Minimum Problems...
- First you want to Understand the Problem. I'd read the problem carefully and identifying the information I needed to solve the problem.
- Then you would Develop a Mathematical Model of the Problem. You could draw pictures and label the parts that are important to the problem. Then introduce a variable to represent the quantity to be maximized or minimized. Using that variable, I'd write a function whose extreme value gives the information sought.
- Next, Graph the Function. Find the domain of the function and determine what values of the variable make sense in the problem.
- Solve the Mathematical Model. If you are unsure of the result support or confirm your solution with another method.
- Lastly you could Interpret the Solution. Translate the mathematical Result into the problem setting and decide whether the result makes sense.
